“Clusterscape 17: Jumble” is included in the exhibit titled Small Works - Big Talent at the Las Laguna Art Gallery in California. This show celebrates small works of art that make an impact. In working on the clusterscape series, I find myself ‘painting’ with tissue. These pieces are layers of tissue and paint and line. Layers of emotion, layers of memory and dreams. Layers that are hidden and secret, brave or wild. Layers that are always variegated, always colorful. The first few reminded me of clusters. I looked up the definition which is, ‘an unorganized collection of random, unmatched things’ and it fit perfectly. I explored synonyms for clusters to discover fantastic words I had never heard before. This new series has opened up a new world for me. The Small Works - Big Talent show will be up from December 7th through December 29th. Explore the show here.
