My work will be included in the group show titled Visceral Structures at the Durham Art Guild. The exhibit includes a diverse collection of artwork from Ivana Milojevic Beck, Susan Finer, Holly Fischer and me. The show opens June 10th with a special reception on Friday, June 16th and a second reception on Friday, July 21st. Together, we wrote the following statement for the exhibit: “While all four of us have distinctly different voices, we share a common desire to push the boundaries of our chosen media and present work that challenges conventions by recontextualizing the familiar. Our work explores identity with the goal of breaking free from social constructs. By manipulating expectations, we explore a balance between the contrasting forces of complexity and chaos versus stillness and harmony. We invite the audience to suspend disbelief, delve beneath beauty and surface appearance, and enter a world of transmutation and fluidity.” Find out more about the show at The Durham Art Guild.
